Wiki Power's Story
“It started in my thirties — I thought I just had a bad cold but I’d spend nights sitting up on the couch, coughing and gasping for breath,” she said. “I didn’t realise how bad it had become. It just became my new normal.”
When Dr Sanjay invited her to participate in a clinical trial, Wiki didn’t hesitate. “The treatment I was on wasn’t helping anymore and I thought if this research can make things better for me and others, then I want to be part of it.”
Now, for the first time in years, Wiki is breathing easier. “This is the first year I haven’t had to take extended sick leave from work. It’s taken away so much stress. To simply breathe well again feels amazing.
“I’m so hopeful about Dr Ramakrishnan’s research. If we could stop asthma attacks before they even start, it would change everything — not just for me but for so many Western Australians who live in fear of their next attack.”
